NESCBWI--Saturday (first half) I have a novel draft due next week. So my compromise about this conference was to come, but spend the majority of the workshop time in my room writing. So I'm sorry that I don't have any insightful conference notes to share with anyone. However,
kmessner and
bostonerin
both posted some great highlights.
On Saturday, I had breakfast with Jacqueline Davies and Nancy Werlin then went back to my room to work. I'm a very visual person, and I long to see the whole novel sometimes. Before I had left home, I printed the book in 7pt. so it would be small enough that I could lay it out on the floor and mark the day changes, when various elements come in, where the plot points fall (and I discovered they are too far apart), etc.
At one point, the hotel staff offered to come in and change the towels, and I said, "Uh, no thanks," because my room looked like this:

It was a good working day. I need those long hours of uninterrupted thinking time to solve overall story problems, instead of simply throwing words around on the pages. But since I had paid for Saturday, I came downstairs for lunch.
Ayuh! Mainers Rule! Carrie Jones, me, Robin MacCready
My agent-mate Stacy DeKeyser and my buddy Mona Pease
Me as the bologna in a Laura sandwich: Laura Jacques, me, Laura Hamor
And Laura H. made Robin MacCready an amazing raven tiara for her Edgar win. The bird looked eerily real, but she told me it was a craft dove painted black :-)
Robin MacCready and Amanda Marrone
After lunch, I went back upstairs to work. I was in the middle of revising a chapter when my hotel phone rang. It was my friend Valarie Giogas calling from the lobby. "The member of the Newbery Committee who nominated RULES to their discussion list is here, and she'd like to meet you."
I literally ran to the elevator.
